Nurturing the Future of Agriculture

Each spring, SLO CWA opens applications for our Collegiate Social Media and Communications Internship, providing college students with valuable hands-on experience in agricultural communications and nonprofit outreach. Applications open each February and offer interns the opportunity to develop real-world skills in social media management, public relations, event promotion, community outreach, website content, graphic design, photography, and more. This internship is roughly four months and consists of remote and hands-on work. Working alongside our chapter leaders, interns play a role in promoting our mission while building professional experience, expanding their network, and making a meaningful impact on SLO County's agricultural industry.

SLO CWA also awards scholarships to outstanding 4H and FFA members who are dedicated to agriculture and livestock projects. Applications open each April and are available to local youth exhibiting animal projects, including beef, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry, and other specialty projects. Our scholarship program recognizes the hard work, leadership, and commitment these young individuals demonstrate while helping support their educational goals and future in agriculture. By investing in today's youth, we are proud to help cultivate the next generation of agricultural leaders in San Luis Obispo County.

2027 APPLICATIONS COMING SOON

Meet Our Collegiate Intern

Mia Marshall is the Spring 2026 Collegiate Intern for SLO CWA. Originally from Fresno, California, Mia grew up in a farming family and developed a passion for agriculture at an early age. She is currently attending Cal Poly, where she is pursuing a degree in Agricultural Communications with a minor in Agribusiness. During her internship, Mia assisted with publicity, communications, social media outreach, event promotion, and other chapter marketing efforts. Her hands-on experience with CWA has allowed her to combine her agricultural background with her passion for communication and advocacy for the agricultural industry.
